Well, things did not get any better for wall street or USA trying to contain coronavirus since my last post. Coronavirus is spreading all over USA and there is no stopping it. Stocks have plummeted even further down.
Dow Jones – 19,173
Nasdaq – 6,879
SP500 – 2,304
Noone knows how low stock will go, I predict dow jones going below 15K. That is when I will be buying in. My plan is to buy 75% VTI and 25% VOO.
Target price for VTI – start buying below $99,
Target price for VOO – start buying below $180.
We will see how this will turn out. Im curious how long it will take us to get back to February highs. Will it months, years? Only time will tell.
The worst week for stocks in 2020 just ended and oh boy what a week it was.
2/24 to 2/28, stocks fell big.
Dow Jones dropped 3583 points this week, or 12.4%
Sp500 fell 11.5%
Nasdaq fell 10.5%.
It was all because of coronavirus. It is spreading all over the world and people are panicking.
I will be buying dip next week. I hope to buy SP500 in my work roth and VTI, total stock market in my personal IRA. I cannot pass on a 10% discount.
But, stocks could drop even further. I will see how next week will turn out.
I am a millennial and I am gonna be straight up about finding dream job - I don’t care. My view is: find a high paying job, become good at it, and get paid until you reach financial independence. As you can see, you will not find words like passion, dream job in this plan. My personal opinion about dream job - I don’t need it.
Too many people get caught up in this “follow your dream”, “must have dream job” mentality. Not me. If I am gonna wake up in the morning and go to work, I will do it for the biggest paycheck I can.
I don’t care about being burned out, I don’t care about loving my job. When you are on your FIRE journey, you want to make as much money as you can and save as much as you can.
Dream jobs don’t exist, because there are too many factors that can ruin it. Even though you may love what you do, you may have a difficult coworker or manager, you make have come in too early or leave to late. It is a lot easier to accept the rules of the game and maximize your paycheck instead. Dream job is when you planning to work there forever. But if you are on FIRE journey, your time is limited. You not gonna be working there forever.
To summarize it, I would say: pick a high paying major/job/career and get rich as soon as you can and FIRE asap. Cause after you FIRE, it is not gonna matter.
Well, cant believe it is already February 2020. January just flew by so fast. My current networth is around 450K now. I have not been doing much other than work lately. That is ok. I was just thinking today that 2020 will the year i will cross over 500K and it makes me feel great. Over half a million, what a great milestone this is gonna be. Thinking about it just makes me work harder towards this goal. I should be able to hit it around summer time, but we will see. Also, my current goal is to max out my 401K roth. I am putting up to 75% of my salary towards roth now and the paycheck that i actually get is tiny (only 25% of my normal paycheeck). That makes me feel like i work for free lol!! It is a short term pain. Once i will max out my roth around march time, i will be back getting those full paychecks!
FIRE here i come!!!
I got inspired by many FIRE blogs out there and decided to join the fight.
I am single guy, 36 and work in very good field, electrical engineering, with 150k/year income. My networth is about 430k and here is break down:
Checking - $19,500
Savings - $4,000
Brokerage - $175,000
IRA 1 - $42,000
IRA 2 - $133,200
Roth IRA - $54,300
Crypt - $4,500
For total of $432,500. My goal is to reach $1,000,000. I am almost half way through, but still have long way to go. Once I will reach 1 mil, i plant to retire in a low cost of living country, somewhere in south america probably. I dont know how long its gonna take me to reach 1 mil, but im ready for whatever it will take. I hope it will be a fun journey, only time will tell. Follow my blog and wish me luck!
